Marriage legal requirements for foreigners:

1. Original birth certificate bearing validation seal (apostille*)
2. Citizens of countries that do not have an embassy in Mexico should go to the Mexican embassy in their country for proper validation of their birth certificates prior to travel
3. Birth certificates must be translated to Spanish in Puerto Vallarta by a State of Jalisco Supreme Court appointed translator
4. Local medical certificate and blood test issued within 15 days of the ceremony date
5. Valid passport or valid driver’s license required for identification
6. FM3 or FM2 tourist entry card
7. Two witnesses (parents not eligible) holding valid identification
8. If applicable, final divorce decree bearing apostille*

Judge fees are approximately US$( ) payable in cash to the civil register; transportation costs for the judge to be paid separately.

All arrangements must be confirmed at least two weeks prior to the wedding date. Applicants must be in Puerto Vallarta two days prior to the wedding day to complete required paperwork and schedule engagements for the judge.
